Dr Carla Prado

Dr Carla Prado is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Alberta, Canada. She holds a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Integrative Nutrition, Body Composition and Energy Metabolism. She directs the Human Nutrition Research Unit, a premier facility for body composition and energy metabolism research. Her research focuses on the impact of abnormal body composition in chronic diseases and developing targeted nutritional interventions to mitigate these impacts. Dr Prado serves as an Associate Editor of two top Journals in her field. Dr Prado is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and a member of the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists – two of the highest academic honors in her country. She has been recognized in the ‘Canada’s Top 40 under 40’ list, and named as one of the ‘Most Powerful Women in Canada: Top 100’.  She is also the recipient of the ASPEN 2025 Stanley J. Dudrick Research Award, given to researchers who have demonstrated exceptional research productivity and contributions to the field of nutrition therapy. Dr Prado has also been distinguished as a Highly Cited Researcher by ClarivateTM, placing her among the top researchers globally for her significant and broad influence in her field.
