ABOUT COSA-IPOS
The Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) is the peak Australian body representing multidisciplinary health professionals whose work encompasses cancer control and care. COSA has over 1000 members, including doctors, nurses, scientists and allied health professionals involved in the clinical care of cancer patients.
The four pillars of COSA activities are:
Education
Advocacy
Research
Collaboration
The culmination of these activities occurs at the COSA ASM. The COSA ASM is Australia’s premier multidisciplinary cancer meeting held over three days each year, usually in November. The COSA ASM is a multidisciplinary meeting, inviting participation from doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and scientists working in cancer care nationally and internationally. A different state hosts the ASM each year, with specific themes.
Founded in 1984, the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) was created to foster international multidisciplinary communication about clinical, educational and research issues that relate to the subspecialty of psycho-oncology.
The IPOS World Congress brings together psycho-oncology practitioners and scientists to build and develop thriving scientific societies, healthcare agencies and academic institutions in all parts of the world and to integrate their knowledge toward a common language of accepted standards in comprehensive cancer care. During the World Congress, members of the international psycho-oncology community have the opportunity to share and learn about new research and best practices in the field. IPOS aims to establish culturally specific standards of psychosocial care and cancer control policy in every nation represented at the World Congress by inspiring attendees to apply their new knowledge in their respective countries.
